Taylor kicks off Emergency Preparedness Week with fun & informative event
On Wednesday, the District of Taylor kicked off its celebration of Emergency Preparedness Week with a BBQ, emergency vehicle displays – with opportunities for kids to check out the insides of fire trucks and play with fire hoses – and a series of displays and information inside the Community Hall.
In addition to staff from the District of Taylor, representatives from North River Midstream, Taylor’s Emergency Support Services, Taylor Industry Mutual Aid Group (TIMAG), the BC Energy Regulator, Pacific Northern Gas, STARS Air Ambulance and the BC Safety Authority were on hand to answer questions and provide information to Taylor residents. The information available covered everything from how to prepare for an emergency, to who to contact in the event of a variety of situations.
Taylor’s ESS also invited residents to volunteer to be an ESS responder, noting that helping people in your community during a crisis is both rewarding and a valued role in protecting the community.
Emergency Preparedness Week runs from May 5 to 11.
